Technological innovations are usually developed in the laboratory. However, what works well on a laboratory scale is far from being a blueprint for large-scale implementation. The path from the invention, the development in the lab, to a successful innovation that holds its own in the market is often long and full of obstacles. To accelerate the innovation process, Empa has set up various demonstrators including NEST for the building sector and move for the mobility sector.
