Computational multiphysics for soft materials processes and processing in health-tech

This workshop targets mechanistic modeling and simulation of soft materials processes and processing in health-tech. Typical applications include transdermal drug delivery, skin burns, hyperthermic oncology, wound dressings and functionalized medical membranes for controlled release of active compounds. Such modeling will become an indispensable piece of the digitalization puzzle in precision medicine. For instance, digital twins of human organs are currently under development to obtain a complete virtual human avatar for in-silico testing of medical treatments. The models used range from the continuum modeling with finite elements to coarse graining and molecular dynamics simulations. This workshop particularly focusses on the largest human organ, namely the skin.


Target audience

Scientists, PhDs, postdocs and engineers working with computational models in health-tech. We particularly promote the participation of young researchers and women.



Participants are asked to preregister online. Since the number of participants is limited to 30, early registration is encouraged. After this preregistration, a link for official registration and information on the payment procedure will be sent to the participant.


After the preregistration, the event organizers will confirm participation if a place is available.


Please bear in mind that young researchers (e.g. PhD students) should also submit a tentative title of a poster (for the poster session) or a presentation title together with the registration.



Registration fee is CHF 300.– per person. The registration fee covers course materials and coffee breaks. Not included are board and lodging (approximately CHF 400).


Accomodation and meals 

The accommodation and meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) need to be booked separately be the participant. Participants are encouraged to stay at the Congressi Stefano Franscini (CSF) conference center at Monte Vérita during the workshop. The center is situated on the hill at Ascona, overlooking Lago Maggiore. As only a limited number of single rooms are available on site, room sharing is encouraged. For single rooms a surcharge has to be paid. Breakfast is included in the room costs. Lunch and dinner are buffet meals with drinks and coffee included.


For active participation at the workshop, a laptop would be required. The software will be made available on site.


Cancellation policy:

- Registration fee

Cancellation can be done before December 1st by writing an email (email date counts as cancellation date). No refunds of the registration fee will be performed after that date.

- Board and lodging fees

The cancellation policy for booked meals and bedrooms is given by the hotel and centre Monte Verità. You find them on the hotel website.


The congress organizers cannot accept any liability for personal injuries sustained, or for loss or damage to property belonging to conference participants (or their accompanying persons), either during, or as a result of, the conference.
