28. March 2018, 9:00 - 16:30 , Empa, Dübendorf, AKADEMIE
The rise of new digital industrial technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics leads to a transformation that will make it possible to gather and analyze data across machines, enabling faster, more flexible and more efficient processes to produce higher-quality goods at reduced costs. This manufacturing revolution, known as Industry 4.0, will increase productivity, shift economics, foster industrial growth, and modify the profile of the workforce – eventually changing the competitiveness of individual companies and even entire regions. Companies and research institutions face formidable challenges in the adoption of these new technologies. Empa’s topical day “Digital Transformation” aims at broadening and deepening the theoretical and practical knowledge of already available digital technologies. An overview of the main driving forces of the digital transformation as well as specific examples of various research activities in the field of digital industrial technologies will be given.
Welcome are people from industry as well as scientific and technical staff, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers from the ETH Domain and from other public/private institutions.
The Topical Day “Digital Transformation” offers scientists as well as people from industry a platform for keeping abreast of the latest developments and for sharing experiences in the field of digital industrial technologies. Moreover, the aim is to identify com-mon interests and to trigger internal and external collaboration.
The event is sponsored by Empa and thus free of charge.
Registration deadline: March 20, 2018
