Transport emissions are on the increase - more than in any other industrial sector. They affect global CO2 emissions and they contain other climate-relevant substances, thus impacting atmospheric composition and climate. In light of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Kyoto Protocol, and possible follow-up protocols, this rate of increase poses a severe problem when trying to achieve emission reduction targets. The integrated project QUANTIFY (2005-2010, http://www.ip-quantify.eu), studied and quantified the impact of transport on the composition of the atmosphere, on clouds and on climate. The main findings of QUANTIFY will be presented.
The language of the presentation is English.
