Natural gas and biogas are increasingly used as fuels in stationary and mobile thermal energy converters due to the good short and mid-term availability and their comparably low market prices.
Despite their various advantages, thermal energy converters based on natural gas and biogas are expected to emit high contents of methane in the exhaust gas.
This Technology Briefing is focused on the stateof-the-art catalytic technologies used to remove CH4 from exhaust gases from internal combustion engines.
